Now you can get 5GB storage space from Google. The project is called Google Drive. Its a quite same service as Dropbox. Since Dropbox’s default storage is 2GB, Google Drive gives extra 3GB storage. Finally it came as Dropbox Killer.
Google is expanding it’s Doc service in to this stage by allowing you to use this as not only a cloud storage but also a sharing and collaborative editing platform. Google Drive is based on a service called Writely, which was a web based word processor and Google Spreadsheet. Documents, spreadsheets, presentations can be created and edited with this. You don’t need to worry about data loss while you editing a document. Documents are automatically saved to their servers to prevent data loss. In this service documents can be shared, opened, and edited by multiple users at the same time and can be saved to a your local computer as well. If you are using Google Chrome browser you gan gain even more advantages by using third party extensions with the service. You can use Google Cloud Connect plugin with Microsoft Office to sync your documents between Google Drive and your your local computer.
This service is not just a cloud storage. It can be accessed through your PC, Mac or Android. Also Google Drive for Linux is on the way.
